Welcome to the Shakopee Girls Basketball Association (SGBA) website. SGBA has been organized to benefit the girls of our community by providing means for their athletic and social development through organized basketball. The goal is to recognize the importance of all individuals and to conduct our programs in a manner that provides the opportunity for the development of all participants. Our programs are organized to provide girls an opportunity to participate in a competitive level of basketball to prepare them for Varsity level play at Shakopee High School.

In-House
GRADES 1 - 4
Program Overview :
The Program is based around skills development and having fun learning the game of basketball. Informal skills and drills session will be held to form teams as equally skilled as possible. All practices & games are played in Shakopee. Grade levels include divisions for 1st / 2nd & 3rd / 4th.

Rec-Travel
GRADES 3-8
Program Overview :
This program is more competitive than the In House Program but not as much as the Travel Program. This program is part of the Girl’s Recreational Basketball League (GRBL) which plays against teams from other local associations - Prior Lake, Burnsville, Bloomington, Lakeville North, Lakeville South, and Victoria. Grade levels include divisions for 3rd / 4th, 5th / 6th & 7th / 8th.

Travel
GRADES 4-8
Program Overview :
This is a competitive program. Two (60-90 minute) evaluations by high school coaches for all travel registrations. Girls must be able to play at a “travel” level and there must be enough girls for full teams in the grade level. Some girls could be recommended for the in house or rec travel program. Grade levels include divisions for 4th - 8th.

TRAVEL TRYOUTS
If you plan to try out for the 2024-2025 Travel Season please make sure to attend BOTH try out dates for the age group your child will be entering per the 2024 school year.
Also if you are new to SGBA travel, we will have uniforms to try on the first day of tryouts.

TRY BASKETBALL (free)
SGBA is excited to offer a FREE introductory basketball skills event for K– 8th grade where girls will focus on basic basketball fundamentals (dribbling, shooting, passing), having fun and meeting new kids.

AAU & 3v3 LEAGUES

2023 Shot & Dribble Club Winners + Varsity Team
SHOT & DRIBBLE CLUB
JULY 1 - AUGUST 31 | GRADES 1 - 8
Beginning July 1 - August 31 athletes are invited to participate in the shot & dribble club. If you hit the goals of the club you will earn a reward and be recognized at the Jumpball Jamboree in November.
TRY BASKETBALL
SGBA hosts an amazing FREE introductory basketball skills event for girls grades k-8 in the Shakopee community twice a year. Check out this fun video from the event :
JUMPBALL JAMBOREE
Every year SGBA In-house, rec travel and travel teams join the highschool team to kick off the incoming season. This highly anticipated and fun event invites all players to have fun at the gym, participate in fun skills & drills as well as get autographs from the teams.
