SGBA has been organized to benefit the girls of our community by providing means for their athletic and social development through organized basketball. The Program is based around skills development and having fun learning the game of basketball. Informal skills and drills session will be held to form teams as equally skilled as possible. All practices & games are played in Shakopee. Grade levels include divisions for 1st / 2nd & 3rd / 4th.

Program Overview :
This program is more competitive than the In House Program but not as much as the Travel Program. This program is part of the Girl’s Recreational Basketball League (GRBL) which plays against teams from other local associations - Prior Lake, Burnsville, Bloomington, Lakeville North, Lakeville South, and Victoria. Grade levels include divisions for 3rd / 4th, 5th / 6th & 7th / 8th.

Program Overview :
This is a competitive program. Two (60-90 minute) evaluations by high school coaches for all travel registrations. Girls must be able to play at a “travel” level and there must be enough girls for full teams in the grade level. Some girls could be recommended for the in house or rec travel program. Grade levels include divisions for 4th - 8th.

We are excited to offer a variety of Spring and Summer basketball camps that will provide players of all ages and opportunity to build on the fundamentals of their game, enhance their basketball IQ, and create lasting friendships on and off the court. SGBA camps are put on by the Shakopee Girls Basketball Varsity Coach Juan Mitchell and are great compliment to Hoopology camps offered throughout the summer months.

By combining spring and summer camps put on by Juan Mitchell with Hoopology during the summer break, this is great opportunity for players to keep building skills, confidence and friendships during the off season.
HOOPOLOGY | JUNE 18 - JULY 27 | GRADES 4 - 9
Hoopology University has designed several shooting drills for this camp. Our staff will assist each shooter to help them become more consistent with emphasis on rhythm and form. Any type of shot that a player might attempt in a game has been incorporated into the drills we have designed. Shooting off the dribble, shooting off the pass, step back shots and pick and pop are just a few drills that they will learn during this camp

Each ball handling session will focus on the athlete becoming a quicker and more efficient ball handler with an emphasis on strengthening the athlete’s weaker hand. We have designed stationary drills, drills on the move, and drills with defenders. Repetition and competition will allow the athletes to become better throughout the summer.

HOOPOLOGY | JUNE 24 - JULY 22 | GRADES 4 - 9
Spend your time attacking the basket in this high intensity camp. This camp will focus on utilizing footwork, ball handling, and body position to get by your defender. Develop a more explosive first step and learn to make the right decision as you finish with a layup, pull up jumper or floater, or pass. Finishing through contact will be incorporated in this camp. Learn moves such as the Euro-step, spin move and power-hop!
