Welcome to the Shakopee Girls Basketball Association (SGBA) website. SGBA has been organized to benefit the girls of our community by providing means for their athletic and social development through organized basketball. The goal is to recognize the importance of all individuals and to conduct our programs in a manner that provides the opportunity for the development of all participants. Our programs are organized to provide girls an opportunity to participate in a competitive level of basketball to prepare them for Varsity level play at Shakopee High School.
If you have a passion for supporting girls’ basketball, want to positively contribute to the mission of our organization, and provide your knowledge and time to help the SGBA continuously evolve, we encourage you to submit an SGBA board letter of interest.
We will be looking to fill 6 SGBA Board positions/terms which will be voted on and determined at the Annual Meeting held on the evening of April 7th. The newly elected board members will begin two-year terms that are effective in May at the first board meeting following the Annual Meeting, which is also when specific board positions will be determined.
If you are interested in being part of the board, email a letter of interest to the SGBA Secretary (SGBAsec@gmail.com) sharing information about yourself and a summary of why you are interested in volunteering on the SGBA Board of Directors. Letters of interest will be posted on the SGBA website so people can review information prior to the Annual Meeting. All submissions must be sent by End of Day March 31st to be considered. Additional details regarding the Annual Meeting will be sent in the coming weeks.
We are excited to offer a variety of Spring and Summer basketball camps that will provide players of all ages and opportunity to build on the fundamentals of their game, enhance their basketball IQ, and create lasting friendships on and off the court. SGBA camps are put on by the Shakopee Girls Basketball Varsity Coach Juan Mitchell and are great compliment to Hoopology camps offered throughout the summer months.
